Dollitude: The Return of The Son of The Doll

Sick of doll crap yet? Too bad.

First, Mayhem's finished doll. I think she came out cute. I will say that yarn hair of that type was very hard to work with. :p Mohair is much easier for some reason.

Now for Bedlam's doll properly attired in his boy clothes. No more drag for him.

I have also had time to make a few extras for my girls! Felted balls and doll blankies for them. :D I think they will love them.

I've started a photobucket account to host blog pics while I have no ISP of my own. I figure my traffic isn't enough to max it out. :)

The Dollitude Continues....

I have two finished and have moved on to the next two. I am even at the point where I am making clothes for them. Here is an update on my progress in pictures....

This doll is going to the boy of a friend. :) He is actually a boy doll but since he was handy at the time, he gets to model the dress that is going on the doll for her girl. Lucky little drag doll.

As you can see, he is totally finished. I will be making his clothing sometime in the next few days and he will no longer get to wear that fabulous floral dress.

Next up is the doll I made for my oldest daughter. She has no clue and is going to be so surprised when she opens her. This is the dress I made for this doll so all is how it should be for once. ;) It was my first time doing long hair and it was such a pleasant experience. It only took a fraction of the time a shorter wig takes. Notice it is a bit crooked... I will get better.

Now for the half-done doll of my youngest. She is huge into "babies" so this will go over big. I plan on putting chestnut hair on her and a dress in green with pink pantaloons. There is a fourth doll in the works but so far she is just a disembodied head.

I'm sorry my updates have been so infrequent. We move in a couple weeks which means I am about to lose the photos on this blog and I don't know when I will be able to replace them. I hope to update more regularly when the move is over and things settle down back into normalcy for us.

Also, on a side note... today I enter the second trimester of pregnancy! :D So far so good. We are looking forward to our newest arrival in June.

Ode to a Rotary Cutter

Sharp wheel of cutting
Shining, glinting, cuts like butter
I love you, sweet blade

My fabric you sheer
Lighting fast with no mistake
My pieces are done

Erica, Craft Ho
didn't say you were so sweet
Shame, shame, shame on her.

Doll update!

I have been working on two dolls like a fiend. :D I am almost totally done with the first one and just need to finish sewing on his hair. He looks like Friar Tuck with that big old bald spot in the back. The second one needs the ankles and hips sewn and then some hair and she can be put to rest as well. I will be halfway done at that point and only have two more dolls to do.

I'm rather proud of my progress even though I had hoped to have them done by tomorrow. I have to admit, a week is pushing it for two dolls. Maybe by Monday.

A Drop in a Bucket...

I made the inner head for two dolls tonite. While I will admit that finishing what amounts to the skulls of two out of four dolls isn't huge, it is a beginning. Only working on them at night and when Taryn is in school is going slow me down a bit. I managed to complete them in two hours even with a couple calls from my mom. Some previous dollmaking experience is coming in handy and making it go quicker, I think.

Now I need to get my sewing machine from my Mother in law's house where my husband stashed it after I told him not to. Weenie. The funny part? I still have the cord and pedal here.

Behold.... Taryn's Craftening!

I am always showing off my work here on this blog so I thought I would take the opportunity to show what Taryn did for her Kindergarten class. The assignment was to disguise a turkey so it won't get eaten for Thanksgiving.

What do you think? :D

Welcome back to the world of craft!!!

Now that the house is on the market and things are in motion for us to move, my craft block has lifted. I am thrilled for I have missed it horribly.

Things on my list to-do...

- Make both girls and Myaimistrue's kids Waldorf dolls (supplies on their way)

- Knit the girls cats from World of Knitted Toys for their stockings (yarn purchased)

- Make felted wool balls (also for stockings) and if there is time....

- a set of beanbags for each girl for Christmas

I know it looks like alot to accomplish but with Scott living in another town, I am bored and lonely. I have lots of craft time to spare.

I'll keep you updated with pics and am restarting my WIP bar.
